A new chapter in the life of Trans Comms
We’re proud to announce that Trans Comms has been named an Elite Channel Partner for Video Security and Access Control by Motorola Solutions – one of only a handful of businesses in the UK to receive this recognition.
Two years ago, we made a conscious decision to centre Motorola at the heart of our security offer to clients. Led by our Solutions Architect, Grant Fryer, our partnership with Motorola has grown well beyond their market-leading products to the point where we are now one of their preferred go-to partners, carrying elite status.
However, it is always more than the name for us. As Grant puts it, “We’re not badge collectors. We only align with products we believe in – and we’d rather master a few things and do them properly.”
This award recognises something deeper: the way we work, train, and collaborate – with our partners, our clients, and each other.
What it took to get here
Yes, becoming an Elite Partner involves sales. But what truly got us here is our commitment to training and doing things right. Since we’ve partnered with Motorola, we’ve trained every engineer across Motorola’s platforms. Our team knows the ins and outs- from cloud to on-premises to hybrid systems – because we’ve done the work. This is not top-down. Everyone learns hands-on. Everyone is accountable. Everyone is in it together as a team.
What does this mean for Trans Comms, and how does this impact their clients?
Being an Elite partner means we get access to better pricing, earlier product releases, and faster support – and pass these benefits straight through to our clients. It shows we believe in the product and that we’re fully invested. We’re proactive about what we do, so this award is significant for us as a business because our clients’ trust in us is paramount at the heart of everything we do.
Because of our status, we work directly with Motorola’s development team. We test their updates before anyone else. If something isn’t working quite right for a client, we can ask for changes – and get them. We also offer proof-of-concept trials, where clients can test the tech in real-life settings, with zero pressure to commit.
Put simply, this award makes us better at what we do and strengthens the client experience with us
A one-stop shop for better security
One reason Motorola fits so well with us is its forward-thinking product ecosystem.
We work across their full portfolio: from Avigilon cloud and on-prem systems, which provide flexible, scalable video security whether data stays on-site or moves to the cloud, to Pelco’s high-definition cameras, known for capturing exceptional detail in critical environments, and Halo’s powerful sensor technology, designed to detect vape, aggression, air quality issues, and other safety threats where cameras can’t go.
This means we can deliver fully integrated solutions – CCTV, body-worn cameras, access control, sensors, and radios- all on one seamless platform.
The results speak for themselves:
- Vape and THC detection in schools
- Aggression and fall detection in care settings
- “Help” keyword alerts when someone is in distress
- Integration with visitor management and HVAC systems for true smart building functionality
This isn’t just security anymore – it’s safeguarding, behavioural insight, and care.
Short case study: a leading multi-academy trust across London and Essex
We’ve been working with an academy comprising a large education trust managing over 50 schools and supporting over 40,000 students – for several years.
Our team maintains over 3,700 cameras on the school sites. We’ve helped them migrate from an ageing on-prem solution to Motorola’s cloud-based Aware platform. Some schools upgraded their cameras; others kept their existing ones—and we made it all work together.
The cost saving? Over £900,000.
The benefit? Better safeguarding, smoother systems, and a setup built for the next decade.

Beyond Education: supporting safer care environments
While much of our work has focused on education, the same technology is proving invaluable in care homes and supported living environments. With integrated fall detection and voice-activated alerts, we’re helping care staff respond faster to incidents – even when residents can’t reach a button or call for help in the traditional way.
By using smart sensors and AI-powered video, we’re enabling more independent living and giving teams the tools they need to keep people safe, without being intrusive.
What sets us apart from everyone else
We’re already hands-on with tomorrow’s tech in a field where many are still playing catch-up.
- Our systems update themselves – no expensive firmware visits are needed
- Every device is open-standard, meaning clients aren’t locked in
- New product rollouts are tested by us first – and customised when needed
But it’s more than just tech. What makes us different is how we deliver.
We’re IT integrators at heart, not just a security company. That means we connect the dots: access control with visitor systems, CCTV with HVAC, and video platforms with emergency comms. We understand how your networks work and how to make systems talk to each other in smart, seamless ways.
That’s why we’re being trusted with more complex projects, from federated education trusts to care environments and beyond.
Expanding horizons
Working with Motorola was a strategic decision as well as a technical one. Most people know Motorola for their mobile phones, but the real innovation lies within Motorola Solutions, whom we partner with – and where the integration possibilities truly come to life.
From body-worn cameras widely used by the Met Police to intelligent radios, access control, and sensor tech, Motorola’s ecosystem enables us to build joined-up systems that give our clients one powerful view of everything that’s happening across their environment. It’s not just about installing devices – it’s about making those devices work together to deliver real insight, speed, and safety.
Broadening the work we do
With Elite Partner status in place, we’re already seeing new opportunities emerge in the manufacturing, healthcare and hospitality sectors.
Although our security work has traditionally centred around education, that’s changing fast. Manufacturers are seeking more innovative ways to monitor operations and protect people and assets. Hotels want frictionless visitor management. Healthcare environments need safeguarding tools that work invisibly in the background.
Motorola’s platforms and how we deploy and support them open the door to new industries. We can serve more sectors and bring the same depth, care and clarity to our work in them, wherever we do it.
Where the industry’s heading – and why we’re ready
Security technology has undergone some huge shifts- from analogue to IP and now, increasingly, to the cloud. Yet while change often makes people nervous, we are ready to embrace it.
We believe that within ten years, most security and access systems will be fully cloud-based. We’re already working that way today, helping clients make the transition securely with encryption levels and data protection that meet the highest industry standards.
Whether we store data with AWS, Google, or other certified providers, we ensure it’s safe, scalable, and smart. The cloud isn’t a risk for us – it’s a huge opportunity to simplify, integrate, and improve.
Looking ahead – from Elite to Elite Plus
At Trans Comms, we care deeply about the way our tech is used, the problems it solves, and the people it protects.
That’s why we train every engineer properly, testing new releases before they go live. That’s why we offer demos and proof-of-concepts, so clients can explore what works for them before making a commitment.
We’re always looking to improve, through integrations, smarter systems, or stronger support, giving our clients the confidence, capability, and care they need to protect what matters most.
And we’re not stopping here. The next goal is Elite Plus – a more significant step we’re already preparing for. But growth is never just for the sake of it.
Grant says, “We want to grow responsibly – with the same high standards, the same level of service, and the same people-first values.”
That means expanding our team, improving our systems, and staying true to what got us here: trust, integrity, and team effort.
Final word
This award is about more than technology and sales targets. It reflects the people behind it- the engineers, project managers, and support team- those who stay curious, adaptable, and all-in. It’s a testament to the relationship we have with our partners, like Motorola.
As Grant says, “None of this would have been possible without the guys. They’ve worked their socks off. It’s not just me – it’s everyone.”
This has been a team effort since the first decision to align with Motorola – training, testing, troubleshooting, delivering – no shortcuts, no silos. Everyone understands the products and gets stuck in. That’s how we work.
This recognition is a marker of where we are and where we see the future of Trans Comms. To reiterate – being Elite isn’t a badge; it’s a responsibility to keep improving, support each other, and give clients the best service in the business.
We’re already building toward what’s next.
